TSKK has set itself the task of working for the Konkani culture. This is done through a scientific study and promotion of the Konkani language, literature, folklore, education and other related forms of culture. However, till date its main work is education and research in Konkani. The urgent need of the Konkani people has led TSKK to give due stress to linguistics and pedagogy. Up to now TSKK has been involved with the following:

- Compiling a linguistic glossary as well as the dictionary project
- Writing courses such as the Konkani basic, intermediate and advanced courses
- Promoting literature by transliterating works from other scripts into Devanagari
- Research, critical editing and publishing of old Konkani works
- Preparing and publishing children's books and cassettes
- Conducting various courses for Konkani teachers and learners
- Preparing radio broadcasts
- Providing research guidance and library facilities to PhD students and other scholars
- Standardising the orthography of the Devanagiri, Kanada and Roman scripts of Konkani
- Offering scholarships to BA, BEd and MA students of Konkani
- Editing and publishing Sôd, the only Konkani research bulletin in Goa
As and when qualified staff and other requirements are met, study on Konkani theatre, folklore, the Konkani people, their dialects and other socio-linguistic work will be undertaken. Possibilities of interdisciplinary work are being considered. |
