Tai Chi
Adapted to suit our need for centering
Savio Rodrigues SJ
Keep your feet apart, in line with your hips. Your feet
should be flat, almost resting in the inner side of the sole — the inner side facing straight forward. Knees must be bent sideways, so that your spine runs right through to the ground from the bottom of your buttocks. Keep your hands to the side palms facing backwards.
Lift your hands, VERY SLOWLY, palms facing upwards, away from the body (sideways) to meet above the head. (IMAGINE YOU ARE GETTING ENGULFED IN FIRE.)
Drop your hands to come in front of the face, chest, waist. (IMAGINE YOU ARE POURING WATER ON YOUR ENTIRE SELF.)
After doing this six times rotate your palms around the DANTIAN or HARA. Slightly massage your stomach around the navel. (IMAGINE YOU ARE CUDDLING YOUR FOETAL SELF IN THE WOMB.)
Repeat this exercise till you feel comfortable and calm.
