Lights of the World Movement

The flame for the Lights of the World Movement was lit by the late Fr George D'Sa SJ on December 29, 1974. This Movement is a follow-up movement of the SSC Youth Retreat Movement, which was also started by him in June 1966.

Later, Fr Gregory Naik SJ and Fr Olavo helped launch an orientation programme called the Light and Life Programme in August 1991 with the aim of helping Higher Secondary students to reflect upon their lives and develop a meaningful orientation in life.

The Lights of the World Movement, which is a non-sectarian and non-denominational movement, conducts programmes for Higher Secondary schools on request with the aim of building persons with integrity, so as to live value-based principle-centred lives as men and women for others.

Vision: To enable the youth, irrespective of religion, gender, caste and economic background, to become enlightened citizens through self-realization and integral development in order to work for personal, social and ecological transformation towards a more just and love-filled universe.
